Public key cryptography is a security mechanism in which two parties – the public and the private – share a common key. The private key is kept secret by the private party, while the public key is made publicly available. Anyone with access to the public key can encrypt messages using it to ensure that only those who have the private key can decrypt them.
What is a Public Key?
Public keys are a cryptographic tool that allow two parties to establish a secure communication channel. In order to use a public key, both parties must first agree on the key’s parameters. The parameters include the key size and the algorithm used.
What is a Private Key?
A private key is a secret number that allows you to authorize cryptocurrency transactions. The private key is mathematically related to the public key, but it cannot be derived from the public key. You must keep your private key safe and secret at all times. If someone else gains access to your private key, they could steal your cryptocurrencies.

Understanding Key Pairs
Keys are an important part of life. We use them to lock and unlock our doors, to start our cars, and to access information stored on computers. In fact, keys come in all shapes and sizes, from house keys to car keys to computer passwords.
Most key pairs are created during the key generation process. A key pair is a set of two keys: a public key and a private key. The public key is used to encrypt data, while the private key is used to decrypt data.
Export the Private Key
When exporting a private key, always be sure to keep the exported file in a safe place. If you lose this file, you will lose access to your bitcoin and ether balances. To export a private key on a Mac, follow these steps:

2) Type “cd ~/.ethereum” (without quotes) and press Enter.

5) The exported key will be displayed on the screen. Copy it to a secure location.
6) To import the private key, type “keystore import [account name].
Convert the Private Key to a Public Key
When you create a Bitcoin wallet, you are given a private key and a public key. The private key is used to access your wallet and make transactions. The public key is used to receive payments. If someone wants to send you bitcoins, they need your public key.
You can convert your private key into a public key by using a third party service or by using a software tool. When you use a third party service, the service will do the conversion for you. When you use a software tool, you will need to install the tool on your computer and run it.
There are several software tools that can be used to convert private keys into public keys. Some of these tools are Bitcoin-QT, Electrum, Mycelium, and Blockchain.info.
